Individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities typically require direct instruction to learn new skills. The same is true for behaviors surrounding sleep. Center for Restorative Behavior, LLC collaborates with families and individuals to address teach skills including following bedtime routines, falling asleep within 15 minutes without a caregiver present, getting 8 hours of sleep, and staying asleep until morning. Sleep intervention can lead to significant improvements in day-to-day functioning, bringing about lasting change.

Sleep issues typically do not resolve on their own. This is particularly true for individuals with autism.
Specific skills can be taught to help individuals fall asleep more quickly, stay asleep throughout the night, and wake at a reasonable hour.
